The Sacred Abode
Baba Kerketeswar Temple is an ancient shrine of Lord Shiva, nestled at Karkatta on the serene banks of the Koel River, accessible after crossing the Koel Bridge at Jhirpani.
The temple has been a place of deep spiritual significance for devotees across the region for generations. The sacred Shiva Lingam here is believed to be swayambhu (self-manifested), drawing pilgrims who seek Lord Shiva's blessings for peace, prosperity, and spiritual liberation.
A grand reconstruction of the temple is currently underway, featuring traditional Nagara-style architecture with a beautifully carved stone facade, a towering shikhara (temple spire) built with traditional brick masonry, a spacious mandapa (congregation hall), and a covered pradakshina path for devotees.
The temple premises also house ancient stone sculptures and murtis of great archaeological and spiritual value. We invite all devotees to participate in this sacred endeavour.
